New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s 25-year-old daughter was arrested for unlawful assembly Saturday night, according to the city’s Office of the Deputy Commissioner.
The New York Post and WABC, both citing local law enforcement sources, reported on Sunday that the mayor’s daughter was arrested for unlawful assembly the night before. She was allegedly arrested after she and other protesters refused to unblock a street in Manhattan.
Chiara was “given a desk appearance ticket and released,” according to the DCPI.
The demonstration on late Saturday came as the city entered the third day of protests over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died last week shortly after a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck during an arrest.
