WATCH: Pam Bondi lays out a devastating case against Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, Burisma with her presentation to the Senate

Trump defense team member Pam Bondi told senators the president had ample reason to be concerned about Hunter Biden’s work as a paid board member for the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.

Bondi quoted multiple media reports questioning the propriety of Biden’s position on the board.

She said he was paid more than $83,000 a month for his work even though he had no background in natural gas or in Ukrainian government relations while his father Joe Biden, then the vice president, had a key role in U.S. dealings with the nation.

Bondi submitted a list of articles she said shows Biden did not have the background required to sit on the board of Burisma. She suggested it was his connection to his father that helped secure the lucrative gig and shield him from legal and congressional inquiries.

“When speaking with ABC News about his qualifications to be on Burisma’s board, Hunter Biden didn’t point to any of the usual qualifications of a board member,” she said. “Hunter Biden had no experience in natural gas, no experience in the energy sector, no experience with Ukrainian regulatory affairs. As far as we know, he doesn’t speak Ukrainian.”

She added, “So, naturally, the media has asked questions about his board membership. Why was Hunter Biden on this board?”

CNN’s chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin praised former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi for one aspect of her defense of President Donald Trump during the impeachment trial Monday, saying she did an “effective job” talking about Hunter Biden.

“I thought Attorney General Bondi did an effective job at showing how sleazy the hiring of Hunter Biden was,” Toobin told Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer Monday. “There is no way to dress that up. He was given a great deal of money for a job he was unqualified for and the only reason he got it is because he was the vice president’s son.”
